Booked another wedding!
A big welcome to Jen & Andy who are getting married next Spring. I photographed her sister's wedding last year. The girls come from such a close and loving family- I can't wait to see them all again! Jen, enjoy the blog, I will be posting lots of stuff that will give you ideas for your special day. Happy Planning!

Karen & Greg are Mr & Mrs!
Ok, it's time to update my portfolio because I have to put some photos from Saturday's wedding in it, for sure!

Just look at this shot from Karen's photo session-- it looks like an oil painting! If you click on this one it will show bigger.

I just love that natural light-!

Of course, we took plenty of candid shots, too!

Greg was like this all day-- always laughing!

What a fabulous church St. Agnes is.

And I had to include a shot of the fun wedding party-- the vibe from them was so amazing. A bridesmaid told me that everyone feels like Karen & Greg are such a great match and so the
wedding party is super-supportive of them. Isn't that sweet? How great for the lucky couple to have a such a wonderful circle of friends and family cheering for them!

What a happy couple~~~

Here they are at 300 Spring. She thought he would smash it...but he didn't.

Their reaction to advice from the longest married couple!

There will be lots of Storybook Albums coming soon- it is June, after all! Each one is completely custom-designed from the ground up. So be sure and check back soon.

Debbie & Bjorn's Storybook Album is here already!
Ok, I'm really not a workaholic-- I just think like a bride and so I want to get her that album as soon as possible! Debbie and Bjorn were married on March 24, so this is pretty quick, don't you think? Their album is all about the joy-- and the glamorous details of the day! (I told Debbie I want to keep it for myself, but she's not going for it. She will pick it up tomorrow so she can take it around and show everyone- yay!)

There are many leather colors to choose from. I like this chocolate brown with sepia photo combo for the front.

The getting-ready stuff is very special, love seeing it in an album.

A fun page of the guys.

The whole album is custom-designed, of course, and I especially like the looks of the coming-down-the-aisle page.

Fun romantic photos!

See their whole album here.
Mindy & Rob's Storybook Album
Yay- their Storybook Album design is ready! They've had a few challenges in their first month- but the unstoppable Mindy has the best attitude ever. You know, she would be a great person to have at a party- she just has that bubbly personality and is so festive. I was thinking of that when I created their design-- and I think it shows through. And they make such a nice couple. It's clear that they just adore each other. Mindy emailed me the other day saying despite the little snafus- she has Rob and that's all that's matters-- isn't that sweet?

Here's a few page layouts from their album design:

And here's what Mindy had to say:

AMAZING!!!

I have been a blog addict for over a year anticipating our wedding day. I have been looking forward to seeing our album design, and it is beautiful. It really took me back to that day, and brought tears to my eyes. I love how every page tells our story, the last page is my fav so far!! I love all the romantic shots, you really captured the love that we share. I have been spreading your name around like wild flowers, everyone has been impressed.

Thanks a million
Mindy

Happy Anniversary to Shannon & Gathan!
This is such a personal business that I inevitably end up feeling that my clients are my friends- I sure feel that way with Shannon & Gathan. They are not only an adorable couple, but they are such a good match. Shannon emailed me yesterday to let me know how they are doing. I look forward to seeing them over the years at their friends' weddings! (Thanks again for sending me Hilton & Nikki- they also seem so in love and happy together!)

Shannon & Gathan's album is very special in that it actually includes their ENGAGEMENT pictures! I've gotten SO many comments on this design-- check it out here.

In praise of second photographers (Part 2: Pinkie)
I didn't start out having a second shooter, so I can really appreciate the benefits of having an assistant who is not only helping with the flow, but also taking candids. Pinkie has been assisting me for a year and a half. Her gift is that she is a ray of sunshine wherever she goes. She puts the families and wedding parties at ease with her cheerfulness and enthusiasm.

Besides being two places at once, it's great to have a second photographer who is shooting the same thing I am, but at different angles. Here are some where Pinkie did just that. She assisted me with Sonya & Brian's wedding so she will get published, too, yay!!! The first pic is from that event.

Mindy & Rob's Wedding Day!

Here is a sneak-peek at their wedding day pics-- I have tons of fabulous photos to choose from. I'm working on their Storybook Album right now-- check back soon to see it!

(click on collage to enlarge.) By the way, the shot of the two of them at the door is something I offer for couples who don't want to see each other 'before' but wouldn't mind holding hands. I think it is so sweet!
Rebecca & Jeremy's fun engagement session
Well, actually, they are ALL fun! Guys don't realize it until the shoot-- and then almost every time I hear something like, "Wow, this is a blast!" It's all about showing off your gal, kissing her, holding her, snuggling. How can that not be anything but a good time?

Rebecca & Jeremy's shoot was at Locust Grove where we went all over the grounds for some carefree, romantic shots. I like doing the relaxed portraits--and don't these two look great together?

If you did not get an engagement session with your wedding package, you can always add it on. Each engagement package includes a one-hour session with a change of clothes, a custom framed and matted 11x14 (can be used as a signature board), an album of 4x6 proofs, and 100 Personalized wallets. It's a heck of a deal-- which must be why I've been doing so many this year!

Alexandra & Micah are married!
They had a beautiful ceremony at St. Michael Orthodox Church over the weekend- where her parents
married 28 years ago! The amazing choir sounded so good-- they need to cut a CD! The wedding party and both sets of parents did a fabulous job making sure the day went smoothly. As far as I could see, everything was perfect.

Beautiful Alexandra.

And what a great veil!

The flowers from Mathis Florist looked so good with the dresses!

A lovely ceremony....

Carefree & romantic!

Followed by a tender moment....

Alexandra showing Micah the surprise grooms cake: a baseball and bat!

And the Atlanta Braves tee shirt with his name and favorite player's number! (Now I know why they are going to Atlanta for part of their honeymoon!)

What a fun day they had-- can't wait to post more pictures from their day. Check back soon to see them.

Happy Anniversary to Monica & Jason!
Such a romantic couple and a joy to be around.... They had to extend their engagement because he got called up to Iraq. When they finally got married it made for an emotional day. I think their joy was felt by all who were there.

See their fabulous wedding album here.

In Praise of Second Photographers (Part 1: Dani)
Almost all my packages include two photographers. This is such a bonus for my clients because we truly can be in two places at once. For example, while I'm photographing the moms lighting the unity candle, the second photographer might be getting the last minute behind the scenes with the bride. Or if I'm photographing the brides and the girls, the other can be with the guys. And brides and grooms can just relax and enjoy the reception knowing that there's at least one of us to catch the action both on and off the dance floor!

Dani has been assisting me for 3 years now and does a fabulous job. She has a gift for remembering who's-who in a family and so always notices photo ops. She'll photograph the bride dancing with her brother, or like the last shot: the groom's sister with her daughter.

Erin & Tony's Engagement Session
We went to Cherokee Park first, and then to Ashland Park to get shots of the river and Louisville skyline. It was a fun day-- Erin & Tony have great fashion style! All of my engagement shoots include a clothing change so you can have a formal and a casual look if you want, or just do different colors. We also included Erin's son Kyle throughout the shoot- he has a great smile, doesn't he?

Fan Mail!
Rose is a newlywed who just picked up her Storybook Album. Here's what she had to say:

LIZ..

WOW WOW WOW ... I AM SOOOO SPEECHLESS... YOU KNOW TO BE "BEHIND THE SCENES" AND SEE THE BOOK ON THE COMPUTER AND THEN FOR IT TO BECOME REAL AND ACTUALLY GET TO TURN THE PAGES OF MY OWN STORYBOOK ALBUM IS JUST SO AMAZING... IT JUST SEEMS SO REAL AND LIKE I AM IN THAT DAY ALL OVER AGAIN.
I HAVE HAD FRIENDS SAY THAT THEY WOULD GET MARRIED ALL OVER AGAIN JUST SO THEY CAN HAVE YOU DO THEIR WEDDING PICTURES... :) I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW SPECIAL YOU ARE TO ME... YOU HAVE REALLY BECOME SUCH A FRIEND...

Jessica & Ryan's Storybook Album is here!!!
And they've only been married two and a half months-- how amazing is that??? These albums are so much fun to design. My secret is that I am also a graphic designer (much prefer designing these than when I had to work on banners!) and I completely custom-design each and every album.

What a great cover shot! I love the warm glow of the late sun on them....

The girls & guys pages show what a fun wedding party this was!

Their whole album is gorgeous. See it all here.

Heather & Dathan's downtown engagement session
What fun-- I think they laughed through the whole thing- and you can sure tell they are happy together, can't you? I love that my engagement clients have some casual portraits that capture their chemistry together...whether it is downtown or in the park. Just about everyone has scheduled a session, but if you haven't let me know. Mostly we do downtown Louisville or Cherokee Park or the River. And I will travel to a location of your choice!

Engagement packages include online viewing and ordering, 4x6 proofs in a proof book, an 11x14 custom-framed and matted (glass can be left off for guests to sign the mat) and 100 personalized wallets.

Stay tuned... I will be posting another engagement session soon!
