New Album Design!
Each album is designed from scratch and there are no templates whatsoever. This one has a quote from their program across a few of the pages- I think it really gives the album impact. See for yourself here.

This is a two-page spread of the album. There is a choice of leather for the cover, and a photo goes on the front also. Read more about the Storybook album here.

Shannon & Matt's Storybook Album
Shannon's mom came by to pick up the proof books and order the Storybook Album yesterday- Shannon & Matt live out of state. Anyway, there were very few changes-- a couple pictures that I replaced and that was it. Here is their final album design.

I've designed 7 of these so far and everyone raves about them just the way they are. I guess it really helps that I used to work as a graphic designer...! I heard about an album design contest for wedding photographers and I will most definitely enter a few of my albums. I'm so excited!!!

And...I just finished Monica & Jason's album. I will post it here shortly.

Megan & David's Storybook Album
Megan came over yesterday with her parents. Everyone was thrilled with the pictures-- and I think Megan will have to share her album with her mom! We looked at the album design on my computer and made a few minor changes. Here's a picture we added. Click to see the revised design. I will be ready to order it in a couple days-- and I will post pictures of it when it comes in.

Meanwhile I am finishing Monica & Jason's album design-- I will post it here soon!

Bryan & Marie
Dani & I spent almost 12 hours covering Bryan and Marie's wedding day yesterday. But the time flew by as so much was happening. After the ceremony, they had a 2 hour romantic photo session as we hit the highlights of Louisville- Locust Grove, the waterfront, Central Park and downtown. Dani & I were in heaven! All of us had so much fun and there are many amazing photos!

The bridemaids got to pick out their own dress-- as long as it was black. And the flowers were by Nanz & Kraft.

After they lit the unity candle, they just gazed at each other beaming--!

The reception was at the Rathskeller in the Seelbach and they ended the day with a sparkler send-off followed by a horse and carriage ride. They will be honeymooning in Fiji- how exciting!

Smashed potatoes!
The reception food at Doug & Lori's Friday wedding included a mashed potato station where guests filled martini glasses with potato topped with their choice of onions, mushrooms, bacon, gravy and cheese. That was so cool and everyone seemed to love it. Clements Catering handled the food.

The icing on the wedding cake matched the fabric of Lori's dress, wow!

The cake lady was out of cards; I will post a link as soon as I found out who she was.
Jody was my assistant-- she used to work for me a couple years ago. I know she likes it a lot better now that I've gone digital and she can shoot more. Here's one she took-- Doug & Lori's second kiss as Mr. & Mrs. !

Doug & Lori
Friday's wedding was at the Kentucky Derby Museum, next to Churchill Downs. Lori's mom made the wedding dress-- and all the bridesmaid dresses!

So Doug and Lori both seemed so calm and laid back before the ceremony-- and afterwards they looked so sweet together. The sun came out and we were able to get some pictures outside, yay!

My new (old) camera
I bought an old camera so I could shoot infrared images. This is something that I would only use maybe once on a wedding day-- and only if the conditions were right. But I wanted the camera because I like the effect- and it's something different that I can offer. Infrared photos have a surreal look to them and put a lot of grain in the image. So, it's an art-y effect. What do you think? Here's one with my regular camera and one with the new (old) camera.
Weddings!
Things have been very busy around here lately. I booked 5 weddings over the past week! Most were referrals-- thanks to everyone for telling people about me. And it happened again where two people wanted me for the same date. If I could clone myself, I would ;-)

Check my dates booked page to see if your date is available.

More photos from Monica & Jason's wedding day
I'm working on their album design right now-- can't wait to show it to them! Their wedding was at Grace Lutheran with the reception at 300 Spring. As you can see, we stopped by the waterfront on the way!

Jim & Erin's Storybook Album
Erin came by today to finalize her album. She loved it just the way I designed it- yay! I truly put my heart into these designs (which take many hours) so I'm really pleased with how thrilled everyone has been. Here is the photo Erin chose for the front cover. And here is her album design. I will also post photos of it when it comes in. They are handcrafted and take about 6 weeks-- well worth the wait!

What a fun group of people- the families, wedding party, the guests- and of course the bride and groom! So much laughter and happiness all around-- and it sure went by fast!!! The reception was at the new Muhammad Ali Center downtown on the river.

DJ Marshall Yancey kept the dance floor packed!

Another wedding album design!
Yay! I finished designing another album layout. Each one is completely custom-designed from the ground up-- no templates or anything like that. The album is as unique as the wedding day.
Also, if there's anything Jennifer and Christopher would like to change, I am always happy to add and subtract photos to make the album exactly as they wish. They can also choose the color of the leather for the cover, and they get a photo on the front as well.

For this one, a lot of the day was about the flowers and the wonderful setting of the Conrad-Caldwell house.

Here's what Jennifer had to say when she saw it:

Liz-
I was so excited to see more pictures of the wedding when you called!! I jumped out of bed and checked it out and they look amazing!! I have been so anxious to see other parts of the day that I wasn't involved in. The guys looked so handsome. Thank you again so much for capturing our special day!!

To see for yourself, click here to view the album design.

(In case you are wondering if I'm always working- the answer is yes! This is my busy season so if I'm awake, I'm working. I love it though, and I know things will quiet down a little August and then I will miss this!)
Engagement Pictures...!
It's a great time of year to get your engagement photos made. I prefer to do a relaxed outdoor photo session that captures the two of you enjoying yourselves just being together. Yesterday I traveled to the country to take photos of Aleisa & Josh. We were at Aleisa's family home so we could take pictures on the property and with Maggie. Maggie loves having her photo taken- and the magic word is "treat!"

My engagement sessions come with a custom-framed 11x14 of your choice of mat and frame. If you like, I can leave the glass off so the guests can sign the photo mat. You also receive 100 Personalized Photo cards that can be included in the invitation or used as reception keepsakes. Read more about engagement sessions on my rates page.

Another wedding!
I am having such a great wedding season!!! Monica and Jason finally got married yesterday. I say 'finally' because they had to wait until he finished his tour of duty in Iraq.... They were so happy to now be husband and wife. Before the ceremony Dani told Jason how beautiful Monica looks and he replied, "She always looks beautiful." Awwwwww.

Dani and I took a lot of pictures--- how could we not? I will post more soon.

It's all in the details....
These images are from the same wedding last Saturday. I purposely photograph things that years from now the bride and groom and their families will look at and smile. For example, they will remember that instead of a guest book they had their guests sign a Kentucky picture book; that the bridal party wore really cool shoes and jewelry, that the reception tables were set up just so, etc. etc. I love making images that will be enjoyed for decades. (Dani and I were just saying last night that this is the best job in the world!)
