My goal to stop paying for advertising...
In the last few days, I've had two brides tell me that they are telling EVERYONE they know about Liz Images Wedding Photography. Thank you SO much Michele and Christina. I really want to have all my clients rave about me so that I can stop paying to advertise. Thanks to everyone for spreading the word, including all the great people I work with at the venues!

Before going to the church, we started pictures at Michele's house.

I think the unposed getting-ready shots really help tell the story of the day. For example, in the second image, Michele is showing Jeff's ring to one of her bridesmaids.(Click to enlarge)

And here's Michele's dog, Max- who has a special place in Michele's heart, too!

Michele and Jeff got married just hours ago-- and all I can say is...WOW!!!! They had such a wonderful day! Although the weather was gorgeous and the whole thing went perfectly, I don't think a tornado would have stopped these two from enjoying their day! They were an incredibly sweet couple and both families were so nice. Dani and I took a bazillion photos and I just cannot wait to start on their Storybook album. I will be sure to post it here when I finish it. Here are a few teaser shots. I will post more later. Oh, and the church was Southeast Christian and reception was The Olmsted.

Booked another wedding today. This one is for the Water Tower, officially known as Louisville Visual Art Association. Here are some wedding pictures at the water tower I showed them when they met with me.

Black and white wedding photography with a touch of color!
It's called selective color and it can be very effective. Here are some examples:

This is a bread bunny that Steve (my hunky husband) brought home for me from Great Harvest. Steve knows that I love bunnies!
Happy Easter!!!!

My wedding photography blog is getting noticed!
My blog traffic is increasing each week. I've been getting lots of GREAT feedback from so many people reading this. I just discovered that I am mentioned on Wedding Planner Emilie Duncan's blog! How cool is that? Here is a link to her blog.
Yesterday I showed Chris & Kari the new Storybook Album. They booked me last December but I didn't have the new album yet. They are getting married in October and were quite pleased with the Storybook Album. Kari said it looks like something a celebrity would have.... I am excited that I am now doing the album design for my clients. I think it will be SO much easier for them-- and it is fun for me to put the albums together. You know, my day job 3 years ago was a graphic designer. I liked that ok-- but I LOVE combining my design skills with my photography!

The Nikon D200 camera is STILL sold out!
I bought mine in early February and had a tough time finding one then. Now it seems like the supply has completely dried up. Message boards are all over the place talking about how they are so hard to find! Check out this Google search of everybody clamoring for one. Anyway, don't mean to gloat but I just got my second D200 this week! After testing out my first one for the past couple months, I am more than pleased with its performance. Since it is now going to be my preferred camera, then that means I MUST have a spare as a back up! (Plus that means my assistants also get to use the best new equipment... Last wedding my assistants had to use the old camera!)
I have 10 days before the next wedding so I have time to run some tests and put it through its paces. I can't wait til the next wedding though-- it will be SO much fun to have both cameras. And Dani my assistant is VERY excited, too. I will post some images from that wedding, for sure!
"Can I get some posed romantic shots?"
Sure! Although candids are very popular, it can be nice to have a few romantic pictures that are posed. I am not stuck on any certain style or type of shot. I like variety! Here are some sample romance shots:

"I love candids!"
That's what I hear more than anything. And I do, too. I think they are really important in telling the story and capturing the emotion. Here are some examples: The middle one was taken just seconds after they were married.

"I hate the formal posed wedding photos!"
I hear that a lot. And that's fine with me. It gets very boring seeing photo after photo of everyone lined up like a picket fence and cheesing into the camera. I tell my clients they can have as much (or as little) formal photos as they want.

And I don't want to skip them-- family photos are very important. My secret is that I'm FAST! It's amazing how quickly they can be done with a list (received from the clients a month prior to the wedding), a reminder letter of who's in the photos (emailed to the clients the Monday before the wedding), and the wonderful help of my assistant. What takes many photographers an hour I can do in 15 minutes. It helps that I do a wedding a week - and that I was a Girl Scout. I'm organized AND prepared!

My specialty is getting natural expressions (sincere smiles, laughter, tears of joy, etc.). Here are some of my not-so-stiff group shots:

Anyway, yesterday Mat & Bridget booked me for their Fall wedding. We worked out a plan where we can get the pictures done-- wedding at 7pm, dinner by 9! They are the second couple I booked for the new Muhammad Ali Center.

Katie just came by to pick up her wedding album and some pictures she ordered. She and Adam were married last November and the weather was actually nice. We got some great outdoor shots. This is one of her favorites-- she ordered an 11x14 of it and it looks fabulous.

The wedding was at Westport Road Baptist and the reception at Kroger Banquet Hall.

I sent this collage (click on photo to enlarge) and the one from my Feb 23 post to Locust Grove last week. And I just got an email from the Executive Director that they want to use a couple of my images on their website--- yaay! Here is what she had to say about my work:

Your work really is beautiful. You manage to get the classic shots without all the clichés, and many surprises as well!

Here is a link to their website where you can learn all about Historic Locust Grove and perhaps rent it for your wedding reception....

Here is a sneak peak at Vanessa & Mark's wedding photos from a week ago. I had a really hard time limiting their collage to just these photos-- there were SO many good ones! I don't get to make a Storybook Album for them, but I know they will be very happy with all their proofs. I find designing the albums so rewarding that I changed my packages to include the formal wedding album with all but my small winter packages.

My last two couples were SO thrilled with their albums that I set a new goal. And that goal is to be able to stop advertising within a year. That's right, I want to be booked through referrals mostly. (Click to enlarge.)

Here's what the groom's mom had to say:

The collage is fabulous!!! I love all the photos!!!!!!! You did a fantastic job (which I knew you would). Again I can't wait to see all the photos.

Wedding Photography Louisville Kentucky
Claudia & Tony are coming over today to pick up some more photos they ordered. They were married last fall on the Spirit of Jeffersonville and this last photo is from their post-reception at The Brennan House. Claudia is from Germany and we were able to plan everything via email and the internet. She is also a photographer so I'm very flattered that she chose me. Here are my faves from their day: (click on image to enlarge)

She also had a pretty wedding dress (purchased overseas of course).
Check it out. #2 in my gallery.

One of the benefits of being a wedding photographer is that I run into people I know almost everywhere I go. My assistant, Dani, and I went out to eat after the wedding and we saw Brooke and Joe. I photographed their wedding a year and a half ago. Here are some of my favorite pictures from their day:

The wedding was at Duncan Memorial and the reception was at Oxmoor Country Club.

Today I'm meeting with a bride who is getting married at the historic Farnsley Mormen House. Here are some pics I'm going to show her:

Now we're talking! Here are a couple shots with the new fisheye lens: (click to enlarge)

So Mark & Vanessa had a FABULOUS day! The weather was perfect-- and they looked so sweet together. We took romantic photos throughout the house and into the garden. I will post more pics from their wedding day soon.

By the way, we were at Whitehall- a beautiful location!
